I took a walk down to the shore
Footprints in sand, soon disappeared
Had a conversation with the sea
Who came and whispered in my ear.
"Young girl, you have a lot of dreams,
A tiny speck large in ambition,
Aiming for the farthest star,
Not losing your pure disposition."
When I took a walk down to the shore
And the sea whispered in my ear,
I said, "My mind is far from peace
My dreams are crippled by my fear"
"Young girl, why do you vex yourself?
The world has larger plans for you.
Keep faith in yourself, then in all else,
Your passion is your biggest muse."
"What passion?" I chuckle to the sea.
"I lost that with my innocence.
My mind remains rarely inspired,
I'm desperate for incandescence."
"Young girl, you are a strange one.
Enlightenment is nearer than you think.
Just look within, beyond your doubt
Find the motive you are seeking."
When I walked back home from the shore,
The sea still ringing in my ear,
I told myself, "You're worthy and
Your mission still perfectly clear."
Went to my room and grabbed a pen,
And a crumpled chit thrown on the floor,
I made a note of what I learnt.
When I took a walk down to the shore.
When I took a walk down to the shore.
