Seasons of the River

Monsoons
River swells to a healthy white
Rushing down slopes at scenic heights
Guided by its dominant effervescence
Sunlight against its unapologetic iridescence

Winter
Frigid breeze crystallises the river
Transformed into ice, it shivers
All movement halts to none
Colour turns into dull disposition

Spring
River slowly regains its original power
Turning hay to green to bud to flower
Unchained from the beast of cold monotony
Unaccustomed to a world without conformity

Summer
Ruthless heat dries up the river
Drained by the monstrous sun, it withers
Thirst can be quenched no more
Lust creeps in for the short spring before

Monsoons after a prolonged drought
Once again, the river swells to a healthy white
Relievedly rushing down slopes at scenic heights
Guided by its newfound effervescence
Sunlight against its childlike iridescence
